By Dave Warner Many people like to limit the amount of household chemicals they use to clean. In days of yesteryear, folks used things like lemon oil, white vinegar and olive oil to get the house in tip-top shape. Some argue that that is still the best way to go. According to a column on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ website, here are a few ways to use the old-fashion techniques: you can polish wood floors and wooden table tops with olive oil and a touch of lemon juice; stainless steel can be cleaned with white vinegar; baking soda does a nice job on porcelain; your coffee maker can benefit from a few tablespoons of salt in the coffee basket, and then run water through it as though you were making your morning cup of java; vinegar will clean up your toilet bowl.
