- Buy an RV! Give up the big house and all the work.
- Write a love note and put it in his/her lunch, email it, text it...every day.
- Never go to bed upset with each other, even if you have to bite the bullet.
- If you have to raise your voice in a heated discussion, walk away, and cool off!
- Hugs work great in a marriage several times a day/evening.
- Never be to bull-headed to say I'm sorry.
- Kind words, kind words can be short and easy to speak.
- Have a regular date night.
- Keep some kind of common bond.
- Help and support each other’s academic, business or career growth.
- Stay in courting mode.
- Make romantic and sweet gestures that tell the one you love that they continue to think of you even in this hurried world and their love has not faded.
- Cook a romantic dinner with candlelight.
- Take a walk together everyday and talk, talk, talk.
- If your partner thinks it's important, it is!
- Stay on good terms with your partner's chosen friends and relatives.
- Be aware of your appearance like you were when you were first dating. Image is still a big part of romance and so is civility.
- Affection and intimacy cannot be overrated; they keep you young and young at heart.
- Marriage is a 80;80 proposition. Both of you have to put in 80% to break even.
- Be excited when they return from work...genuinely glad to see them.
- Be spontaneous.
- Go away for one night to an inexpensive hotel or B & B. Don't forget the lingerie.
- Light your fire pit at night on the patio and roast marshmallows. Make s'mores and have a bottle of wine.
- Agree to disagree.
- Avoid at all costs blame and shame.
